Detailed itineraries for Botswana – 11 days

Day 1: Maun
You’ll arrive in Maun around midday and can spend a relaxed afternoon soaking up the African sun at your accommodation. There, you’ll receive all the information about your upcoming stay in the Okavango Delta.
Day 2: Okavango Delta
Today, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking flight over the Okavango Delta on your way to the lodge, where you’ll spend two nights. Enjoy the African sunset during a mokoro (dugout canoe) ride on one of the many shallow channels of the Delta.
Day 3: Okavango Delta
In the morning, you’ll go on a bush walk and spend the day relaxing by the pool. In the afternoon, if you wish, you can join a game drive in an open 4x4 or go on a night drive before enjoying a delicious dinner around the campfire in the heart of the African bush.
Day 4: Maun
After returning from the Okavango Delta, you’ll receive your 4×4 vehicle at the airport. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to stock up on all the necessary supplies for your upcoming four days in the national parks.
Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve (200 km / approx. 4 h)
After breakfast, you’ll head to the Moremi Game Reserve, located on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. You’ll stay at private campsites where you can fully enjoy the sounds of the African bush. The campsites in the parks are unfenced – so the chances of animal visitors are high.
Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve (2–8 h)
Today, you’ll leave camp early for a game drive – with a bit of luck, you’ll encounter some of Botswana’s most iconic wildlife.
Day 7: Savuti Marshes (Chobe National Park) (200 km / approx. 6 h)
An early start takes you out of the Okavango Delta via the famous North Bridge over the Khwai River. You’ll drive toward the Savuti Marshes – a vast grassland that is part of Chobe National Park. The roads become sandier, and in some places you’ll drive through deep sand along the “Sandridge Road,” an arm of the Great African Rift Valley. Tonight, you’ll camp on the edge of the Savuti Marshes.
Day 8: Chobe National Park (140 km / approx. 4 h)
Another early start brings you to the Chobe River. Today’s route includes sandy sections and public gravel roads. You’ll enter Chobe National Park near the Namibian border and enjoy a game drive along the riverbanks before reaching your camp with views of the river.
Day 9: Nata (350 km / approx. 4 h)
You’ll leave the park early in the morning and take a relaxed game drive to the exit gate. Afterwards, you can stop for a coffee break in Kasane. Then you’ll drive south, mostly still within Chobe National Park, but now on paved roads. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way. Tonight, you’ll stay on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
Day 10: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans (100 km / approx. 1.5 h)
Today, you can visit the Nata Bird Sanctuary on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Then continue to the small town of Gweta, where you can join an afternoon drive out onto the salt pans – with a bit of luck, you’ll spot meerkats basking in the afternoon sun before they settle in for the night.
Day 11: Maun (200 km / approx. 2 h)
After breakfast, you’ll make your way back to Maun. Along the route, you’ll pass Nxai Pan National Park, where you may spot more wildlife. Once back in Maun, you’ll return your vehicle and prepare for your journey home.
